Jonny is a 10 year old boy who loves jokes, trains, lego, and Minecraft. Jonny goes to Highview Public School in Pembroke. In 2019 he was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Duchenne is a fatal muscle-wasting disorder that currently has no cure, https://www.mda.org/disease/duchenne-muscular-dystrophy. In March, Jonny started using a power chair to help with mobility, as he fell in January and lost the ability to walk, and he no longer has the arm strength to continue using his manual wheelchair independently. Unfortunately with the decline in muscle strength, he needs an accessible bathroom modification in his home, and an accessible vehicle to travel to CHEO appointments and to visit with friends and shop within the community. Currently, Jonny’s mom needs to carry him to the washroom, and when traveling, lift him into their car, and then put his manual wheelchair in the trunk. His family can receive funding for some of the cost, but most of the funds needed must come from his family.
We are asking you to help contribute to the fundraiser. We are hoping to have some fantastic silent auction items and raffle items to help raise money for the cause. If you are able to help out and donate, please contact Shannon Boucher at 613-633-8208 (call or text) or email shannyaly@hotmail.com.
We know that your donation will be greatly appreciated and will make our event that much more special. There is also a GoFundMe page started with a goal of $15,000, the link is https://gofund.me/36673f38 Thank you in advance and best wishes!
