Feel it in Your Bones Run

Father’s Day Run & BBQ for Team Broken Earth Medical Missions to Haiti

A new charity run & BBQ event is being held in Ottawa on Sunday, June 17th called the ‘Feel it in Your Bones Run’ (www.feelitinyourbones.ca) for a Canadian volunteer organization called Team Broken Earth that carries out medical missions abroad. The event includes three chip-timed races—a 2K Kids run, 5K and 10K and a post-race BBQ, as well as live music and fun activities for the kids. This is a unique opportunity to go for a run on a golf course on a summer’s evening, and all registrants for the 5K and 10K will receive a free Team Broken Earth BUFF headband.

The theme for this new event is ‘Paying our Healthcare Forward’ — enticing people to show appreciation for the great healthcare we have access to in Canada and sharing it with those less fortunate in other countries. To get into the recovery spirit, there will be tattoos and stickers for people to put on all their own ‘broken parts.’

All proceeds from the event will go towards funding Team Broken Earth Ottawa’s upcoming medical missions to Haiti, where some people must wait for months with broken bones and other life-changing injuries. Later this year, over forty of Ottawa’s orthopaedic surgeons, ER doctors, pediatricians, nurses and physiotherapists will be traveling to Haiti on their own vacation time to conduct clinics, surgeries and hands-on training to help improve the local medical expertise.
