Thanks so much for agreeing to help us spread the word as a small group of people attempt to raise funds to help a special family who are dear to us. We are currently half-way into a community fundraising campaign for a local man who is waiting for a life-saving heart transplant – for the second time. Jim Maveety received the Gift of Life a little over 5 years ago, but due to just about the worst luck, his health has deteriorated and he will need to go through it all again.
Marah and Jim have lived the “pay it forward” mantra over these past 5 years, getting involved in organ donation promotion and allowing their story to be told to encourage others to sign up to be organ donors. Their community has decided that it is now time to step in and give them a helping hand when they need it most.
Our campaign is fun and only 23 days long. Jack Cassleman, a young man who played hockey with Jim’s son years ago, has agreed to cut his beautiful hair – we are looking at a few feet of beautiful golden locks – if we achieve our fundraising goal. We are delighted to partner with Gino, from Nick’s Barber Shop in Manotick, who will host our event at his famed barber shop. Another great small business in our community for you to highlight, which you do so well every week.
We would appreciate any attention you can give to this wonderful cause to help us bring the community together to support Jim and his family, and to showcase Jack’s amazing hair transformation!
