National Little League Week Kick Off

Little League Baseball Canada is proud to announce that National Little League week will take place from June 10th to June 17th.

Every year, the Prime Minister of Canada officially recognizes Little League Baseball Canada by declaring National Little League Week and acknowledges not only the thousands of young athletes involved with Little League Baseball in Canada, but all of the volunteers who devote their time to the program.

We are really excited to once again be recognized Nationally and to celebrate across Canada the joys of Little League. I think that is what we want to express the most this year, is that this isn’t just the T-ball on the Hill event here in Ottawa, this is a National celebration and we hope to bring Canada together seeing what other areas are doing!

Really we are looking for any gathering to show off our love of the game, and the great people involved. Let it be an ordinary day at the park with nothing organized, or maybe that ordinary day now has something special like a community BBQ, we want to see and hear about! I know there are some communities that are throwing special events during National Little League Week, and we would love to show that off to the rest of the country! That’s the best thing about our Little League family is that it doesn’t need to be a big event to show the community love, you would be surprised how far a face paint booth and BBQ will go to showing the Little League spirit!

As you know we are working with Little League Canada HQ to show off everything we can on social media and through the website. We are working on having a portion or most of the T-Ball on the Hill live streamed on Facebook. If there were other communities interested in something like that we could arrange it! We want to celebrate with everyone! So if anyone wants to work with HQ to make it a bit more special, message Mike Ostrom at mostrom@littleleague.ca

We are looking forward to another great event and I hope the weather really cooperates! It will be on June 10th to kick off the week with a bang. Festivities will kick off at 1:45pm and everyone is invited out! We will be showing off some great T-Ball demonstrations by 5 and 6 year olds!

This year we have a group of kids coming down from Rouyn-Noranda who will be taking on a mix of kids from across Ottawa. It should really be neat to have two different provinces participating this year!
